Debt Consolidation

Several repayments, several due dates, several rates. Consolidation rolls them into one — often at a lower rate, but not always at a lower total cost. We show you both.

Debt consolidation

Debt Consolidation — how it works

Credit cards, personal loans, car loans and buy-now-pay-later carry very different rates, and juggling them is where people slip. Consolidating into one facility simplifies the month and usually reduces the rate.

The catch is the term. Moving a three-year debt onto a twenty-five-year home loan can lower the monthly payment while increasing what you pay overall. That can still be the right call if cash flow is the problem — but it should be a decision, not a surprise. We show the total either way.

What we look at

What you get from a broker here

🧮

The true total, not just the repayment

Monthly saving and lifetime cost, side by side.

🧮

Into a home loan, or standalone

Consolidation does not always mean touching your mortgage.

🧮

A term that matches the debt

Splitting the consolidated amount over a shorter term keeps the saving real.

🧮

Cards closed, not just cleared

Consolidation only works if the old facilities go. Lenders look for this too.

🧮

Credit file considerations

We look at how your file reads now and what the application will do to it.

🧮

No judgment

Most people who need this are managing, not failing. We treat it that way.

FAQ

Debt Consolidation — your questions

Will consolidating save me money?
On the monthly repayment, usually. On the total paid, only if the term is kept sensible. We show both numbers before you commit, because they can point in opposite directions.
Does consolidation hurt my credit score?
The application itself leaves an enquiry, and closing accounts changes your file. Over time, one well-managed repayment usually reads better than several strained ones.
Can I consolidate if I do not own a home?
Sometimes, through a personal or unsecured facility. The rate will be higher than a mortgage-secured option and the term shorter.
What about buy-now-pay-later?
Lenders now look closely at it. Regular use can reduce your borrowing capacity even when nothing is overdue.
Will I be able to keep a credit card?
Usually a lender will want the consolidated cards closed. Whether you keep one small facility is something to raise up front, not after approval.
